U.S. Open Swing Dance CHAMPION— 2003
Will (Wichita, KS) began dancing at the age of four—on the tops of his mother’s shoes. As a shy teenager, Will successfully competed as a newcomer and novice dancer, then as an “am” in Pro-am with Mary Ann Gust, Jeanne DeGeyter and Andrea Scott. In 2003, he decided just a few months before the U.S. Open Swing Dance Championships to compete in the non-pro Strictly Swing division with Jeanne DeGeyter. They took 1st place and Will’s pro career was launched.
In addition to state and regional championships, Will has earned over twenty championship titles at the national level in Jack & Jill and Strictly Swing competitions with a variety of partners. He recently competed in the NASDE Classic Division with partner Kelly McBreen. Will’s dancing skills have expanded to include various ballroom and country dances, along with Hip-Hop and Salsa. He and his mother founded Swing Wichita in 2005, where Will teaches regularly while attending college and traveling to national dance events.
