John Thomas
U.S. Open Swing Dance Winner—2005

 

John (Tulsa, OK) began dancing for Swing Tulsa Style in the late 90s.   His first win as a newcomer came in the Tulsa City Championships in the Newcomer/Non-Newcomer Division with Jeanne DeGeyter.  In 2002 he joined the SwingBabys dance team.  John continued competing with various partners in Novice and Pro-AM competitions in local, state and regional contests, building his performance and competition skills.  

John also began assisting Glenda Evans in teaching classes for STS.  In a move to reach his personal dance goal of competing at the U.S. Open Swing Dance Championships in the Masters Division, John partnered with Glenda Evans and developed a routine under the choreography and coaching of Austin Murrey and Barry Jones.  In his  first U.S. Open performance, John brought home a 5th place trophy in 2005.
