Jeanne DeGeyter 2-Time
U.S. Open Swing Dance CHAMPION—2003 |
|
Jeanne (Tulsa, OK) began competing, just 6 months after her first TSC class with Skip Teel, at the 1994 OK/KS State contest in the Novice Contemporary Division with partner Bob Cervantes, placing 1st. Soon she moved into couples country dancing on the UCWDC circuit and also competed on the Rockin’ Country Ladies Line Dance Team with close friend Glenda Evans, winning two WORLD’S Team Championships, and even traveling to Europe for an invitational performance, while also earning a Great Britain Country Dance Championship Overall title in couples. Her focus soon returned to West Coast Swing, and as a Novice, won several national level Pro-Am contests with Terry Roseborough, Brent Key and James Leyva. Jeanne began her teaching career for Swing Tulsa Style under the guidance of Barry Jones. In 2002, she partnered with Tom Danielle (Dallas, TX) for the U.S. Open Swing Dance Championships, placing 2nd in Sophisticated Swing. The following year she took 1st in the same division with Stan Jaquish (California) as well as another 1st with Will Carlton in Non-Pro Strictly Swing. In 2006, she took 2nd place with Henry Pulido. Jeanne is also a two-time ACC Top Teacher, two-time Dallas DANCE Swing Team Champion and a World Swing Dance Council member Instructor/Event Director. (Jeanne’s prize claims are that she was Austin’s first novice partner and Will’s first Open partner. ) |
