Glenda Evans

U.S. Open Swing Dance CHAMPION—2001, 2002
U.S. Open Swing Dance Winner—2000, 2005

Glenda (Tulsa, OK) spent her childhood dancing tap and jazz from three until fifteen years of age.  She resumed her dancing at the age of 41 and began teaching aerobics.  In one of her dance classes a ladies team was formed for competitive line dancing on the UCWDC circuit.  With the Rockin’ Country Ladies Dance Team, Glenda is a three-time WORLD’s Solo Team Champion and was also invited to Great Britain for a Demo performance.

She is also a two-time WORLD’s Couples Team Champion, coached by Walt Warner and Sherry Richards. Glenda also taught line dance workshops on the country circuit.  From the couples team, Glenda partnered with Chips Hough in Swing competitions—with Barry Jones and Jeanne DeGeyter as their choreographer and coaches.  They entered their first U.S. Open Swing Dance Championship in the Masters Division and placed 5th in 2000.

For the next 2 years, Glenda & Chips would take home Championship trophies in the Masters Division.  In 2005, Glenda partnered with John Thomas for the Open, with coaches Barry Jones and Austin Murrey and placed 5th.
Glenda has taught regularly for Swing Tulsa Style since 2000 and credits her success as a competitor and teacher to her teachers and friends Barry Jones and Jeanne DeGeyter
